Sand from home depot?

So I am about to switch my 90->150 and I wanna put a sand bottom? I dont wanna pay for live sand or expensive dry sand. Can i get sand from home depot like pulverized limestone or something?

they have sand that has been cleaned str8 from monterey bay so yeah u can

 

I would not use any play sand from any place unless it is aragonite, and passes the vinegar test. Play sand almost always has silicates in it, and that will cause algal blooms.

 

whats the vinegar test....i know it has to do with something bubbleing

 

I would never use anything from home depot for sand in my tank! ever! I just dont trust it. In my 220 gallon with over 10g inversted I worry about using hd sand. I dont know I guess im paraniod. I just wouldent.

i have had the high desert play sand in my 180 for 6 months and in other tanks for over a year with no problems

 

I hate this Crushed coral sooo much I cant wait to have sand....When I set my tank up I thought Crushed Coral was soooo sweet but noo this stuff suckkkkss.....I need sandd badd
