Hey Everyone! How much sand should I use in my 120? I'm going to have about 150 pounds of live rock.

Do you think 80 pounds will be enough?

Will you leave it thinner under the rock and make it alittle thicker around where there is no rock.. In my Red Sea I keep a thin bed as well and really almost no sand under the rocks.. Can't see there anyway!

I have 20 pounds in my Red sea max. About 3 inches. I am planning on having about 120 in my new tank. It should give me about 2.5 to 3 inches.

yea i like to keep it thin under the rock, i hate how after 2-3 years the sand compacts against the rock and almost becomes like argocrete(argonite and concrete).

I agree. I like my sand to be nice and clean looking. In my Red Sea Max I have about a half inch.. I try to get my biological out of my rock. I actually will vacume my sand and replace it every so often.
