sand question

    can you use play sand or do you have to use live sand in a saltwater tank

    Your prob gonna get mixed reviews here on play sand, I've read quite a few post where people have used it exclusively in there tanks and have had no issues. You have to be careful of the brand that you get though, a lot of play sands are known to contain silicates which you don't want. There is a brand name that I cant remember something castle? that I believe is supposed to be the safest of the play sands.

    On the other hand you also dont have to add live sand to your tank. There are a lot of sands out there for reefs that are dead sand and will become live after a period of time.
