sand shifting star fish any good for reef??

    Hey guys i need more info on sand shifting star fish.. are they any good for reef tanks and i heard that they eat the benificial bacteria..is this true or false?:confused:

    Most important questions before I can answer are:

    1. Do you have a deep sand bed in your tank; and
    2. How old is your tank and how big is it?

    35 gallons sand bed about an inch all around and tank has been running for about 9 to 10 months...

    In that case, I'd skip the starfish. They really need big tanks to survive and one in a tank as small as yours will quickly deplete its food supply which consists mostly of sand bugs. Even if you were running a deep sand bed, I wouldn't recommend one because you don't want anything to burrow into a deep sand bed and/or eat the bugs out of one.

    In my experience it will live for a while in a tank that small and then start losing limbs and die.
