    Greetings..
Sand sifting Star Fish Life span...What is the longest life span anyone knows of one of these living? Mine is/was 5 years plus..seems to have passed away during the last few days...lost a tip of a leg...then a whole leg is missing as well, and now he is not moving this morning.....Just curious..lot of "Google" info, just wanted it from the "horses mouth"...so to speak. : )
    Thanx in advance.8)

Mine only lasted about 6 months "only" due to the fact it liked climbing on my vortechs and the MP40 and MP60 arent to kind to there legs at the point.

Mine usually last about 6 months to 1.5 years. So, a star that lasts 5years + is great.

    -----------

Are you reffering to a Sand-Sifting Star, as I have never seen one climb on the glass like other stars.

I've got one and it occasionally climbs up on the glass, maybe looking for food? I've only seen him do it twice

i believe they are relatively long lived in the wild (20+ years). they don't do too well in captivity. i had one for a little over two years that recently died. it was an impulse buy from my first year in the hobby and don't plan to ever get another. my opinion is that most of us are unable to provide it with all of its nutritional needs.

yup...It looks just like the one shown by mrl2o...Mine would climb frequently.....sounds like I've been fortunate to have had him this long.
