Sand water filter

Hi guys

I am getting water pumped to my 1 ton tank full with sand so i want to get me a filter to fix that

I was thinking to get me a Sand water filter like those used for swimming pools, So my question is will the sand water filter used for swimming pools do the job I mean filter the sand from the water ???

 

the pool water filter is full of sand. And water runs through it and it pulls all the stuff out. It is ment to have sand in it. Not to be a sand remover.

 

1 ton tank? sand getting pumped into the tank?
We need to know what is going on here.
The sand filters for swimming pool use sand to filter out small particles in the water, then you can backwash the filter to remove the particles. i dont think this will work with your application. They also might have metals in the filter which wouldnt be good for a reef tank (Copper fittings)

this is what i have

I have a pump that pumps water up to a 1000L water tank, The water that gets pumped up to the tank has sand and clay in it so i want to filter the sand/clay from the water enteringthe tank

 

Ok so this is your make up water that your trying to get the sand out of correct? This is not water entering your display tank right?

How is it getting sand and clay in it? Well water or something?

 

the water is pumped from a pipe entering the house, In the area i live in there is a problem with a water lines/pipes
