I added this Sarcophyton leather yesterday and also got a Koralia #4 in the mail. The Leather was startng to extend his tentacles when I put the Koralia in and it blew him over. He is now a light purplish color and has a mucous coating on him. His stalk is also kind of purple and an off white in color. He has closed up a small amount but other than that has'nt lost any size. Surely he wo'nt die from being knocked over. Did to many changes just set him back? Should I keep the mucous coat blown off of him? What should I do and how long will it take for them to usually come back around? Thank you for your time....

    Hi coldshot,
A Koralia 4 on a 55 imo is to much flow from 1 powerhead, 2xkoralia 2's at either end, would be perfect, the leather blew over and probably shrunk up due to not likeing the flow, put it in a low flow area and it should be ok, as i said before now you have a coral, try water changes 20% fortnightly, and you corals will thank you for it, i have the same size tank and i had to trade a 10" leather in at the lfs, the frag i have as doubled also to 3" now,
    Good luck with it...

I just wanted to know it was alivE!!!!thnx a bunch...I was worried about it turning color like that....I now know the 4 is way to much I also have a three I have the four runing now and it is right above the Leather and it is still swaying. I will get the 3 running soon and trade off the four. It is brand new. They are both new. The three is it gonna be to much? Or is one three going to be right or I need more or what? John said to get 4 #2s but thats to much stuff in the tank....thnx a bunch...I am glad he is alive....He is about 5 inches tall and I have to see him open all the way but was lookin great at the store....I hear ya can chop its head off and put it on a rock and the trunk will grow another head and the head will grow another trunk....

I asked about flow here one time and was told by several you need to 50 times over the size of your tank as in 50 times 55 being over 2500 but now it is way to much.....I was also told with my lighting I could do soft corals now I have been told I dont have the lights for this guy??/ Confusion.....

2xkoralia 2's or maybe even a 3 and a 2, the flow, you take in to account the return from your sump or cannister also, Just move the leather up a bit higher if possible, under medium flow, so its just moving in a breeze, may take a day to open back up.

    What lighting do you have?

Will have to place him high as possible, but he maybe ok half way, depends how he reacts, but if your gonna start getting corals in a 55 i would upgrade to some decent t5 4 bulb at least, you need around 4watts per gallon. the pc's would be good for fowlr.
