If you've seen it in action you know what I'm talking about! This has to be the coolest piece of environment simulation to date + it's IceCap so you know it's good.:) I had a video of the controller simulating a storm but I lost the link and can't seem to find it.
Champion Lighting & Supply :: Dimmers :: Solar 1000 LW Dimmer

After buying the interface and satellites it'd be around $550.00. Seems impossible right now but if I save just a small percent of income each week and cut out buying lunch at the diner across the street from my shop I can have it by June.;D

Definitely sounds cool, but it is it really worth changing your lifestyle for a few months to have? Since it probably won't make a huge difference in the quality of life for your tank inhabitants. I wonder if there isn't something else that could really improve the quality or reliability of your tank for that amount of money, an Apex controller, or some sort of automatic doser, a good battery backup or something?

Just throwing some ideas out there.

I agree, but than again, isn't it better to buy the one you want the first time and not buy again?

I didn't see much description on that website. What sets this one apart?

its not a full controller from what i know (like no PH/Temp/etc probes), but its got some really cool dimming features for VHO's that let you setup things like overcast days, and when you add in the wave makers/lunar pieces it lets you make storms, lunar cycles and stuff liek that. I think all the Major controllers have similar things (i know the RKE does) but to get all those extra modules for those functions would cost alot more. so if you dont want all the probes for input driven responses.

I WAS very excited at first. But after reading review after review of how this unit destroys IceCap 660's I'm not so much excited any more. You'd think that for that amount of cash BlueLine would have the bugs pretty much worked out but from what I can tell people are experiencing the same problems in the 1000's that ppl had in BlueLine's first dimmer units.

Packing a lunch can save a fortune! When I make my own meals for work, I tend to notice that there is an extra $100-$200 left in my bank account at the end of every pay period.

It doesn't have to be a total sacrifice... maybe just go to the diner once a week, or bring your own lunch, eat it, and then go to the diner for a coffee if you like to just get away from the office for a bit.
