Very good My2HeartyBoys, i am glad that all of those things were listed in my thesis too. This year long project has been very informative and the final part is a presentation. Hopfully i can make more people aware of the threat. I think that if we are able to make people understand what is at stake...well lets think positive.

One thing that i like about stoping the massive siltation is whats going on in Fiji i believe. Where water flows from a logging area there are mangrove trees...they soak up all the silt leaving the water clean...at least we can plant mangroves (asuming it wont mess with the enviornment...more?) in threatened areas.

As for overfishing, i am glad that The Great Barrier reef is now 33% no-take zones. Thats better than none.

I love this plan...the only problem i see is with no-dive areas. That might make things worse because people will start thinking, why save what i cant enjoy...very greedy thinking...but hey...its human beings we are talking about ;)

Very good on the siltation issue, Bruce. I would find that story and pull pertainent information from it. Also see if you can find stories where they are trying to replace the mangroves (if this is even happening).

You might try www.reefball.org (I think)

OK, Bruce. Here is one more thing to complicate your paper. All of these threats that we have discussed can go under one major threat heading. Man. Man (the human race in general) can no longer afford to keep doing things the way he is currently doing them.

YES! I saw that in a discovery channel documentary, its a great idea...the problem is, if we dont do anything to help stop the reefs from dying now, what are the chances new ones will thrive?...unless somthing is done...well lets not think that way

    Bruce,
Lets start a web site and whoever wants to pitch in that will be great.

My daughter is trying to raise money in school and donate it to Wildlife Conservation Society. I feel that we as parents need to also teach our children, not only about the reef, but also about wildlife. I continue to be a proud supporter of the Wildlife Conservation Society. Here's the web site if anyone will like make a donation.
