Hello all! I'm Shaun. I'm from Denver, Colorado. I joined this forum by recommendation of my local fish store, Elite Reef! Couldn't have done it without you guys!!! Enough about me more about my tank!

I have a 75 gallon display tank with a 20 gallon long refuge tank. I'm running a Reef Octopus 4, protein skimmer, an Eshopps overflow box given i couldn't drill my tank :(. I'm also using 2 Hydro 425 gph circulation pumps and an Eco 1056 return pump. I'm pretty happy with the way things are but would love to hear what you all have to say. Lastly my newly acquired VHO Sunlight Supply Tek Wave 4 lamp 95 watt fixture!!! LOVE IT so far!

Excellent start. You will be growing nice corals under that light in no time at all.

    Thanks Corailline!!

From what I've been told about the Tek-Wave is its the equivalent of an 8 lamp but with the cost of a 4 lamp fixture! I'm pretty happy. I ended up going with 2x Ocean White lamps and 2x Ocean Actinic lamps and I'm almost certian I'll be making some changes so that I am using 3x Ocean Actinic lamps. LOL Time will tell.

    Welcome,
Those powerheads are a little small how is your surface agitation and what are you plans for corals with the tank? Putting a nice black backround on the back of the tank to hdie the cords and equipment would look nice

I have a lot of movement up top. I am still in the process of making things work. I have to build in a siphon break in my return line so I can properly adjust my lock line heads. They are point up and one is mostly out of water so that I can break that siphon and not flood in case there are issues. As for the pumps them selves I have plans for adding at least one more if not two of the 425'sl. I just dont know how to point them. I have one on the left side pointing down creating a vortex in the center but that's disrupted by the return line which is breaking surface tension. I feel that with the way that my lock line is set that I have great surface agitation. In fact I'm creating a couple of bubbles the way its currently set.

I would like more information regarding the surface agitation.

As for coral I'm looking to do a bit of every thing. For me personally I want a pair of clowns and anemone, possibly a sunburst anemone because 1 they aren't common and 2 they are pretty. I am interested in lps, sps; dont shoot me, but a mushroom for looks, and a couple of other types to be determined.

As for the black background i am defiantly doing it and had planned on it before you mentioned it.

Good luck with everything. I am newer myself to this reefing thing but can tell you to jsut look around on the threads and stickies to find some great info. Just research everything before you buy even the different corals have different needs and some seem to like chemical warfare with each other.
