    Hey folks,
I have been here before some may remember me. I just kinda dropped off the face of the earth. My wife and I had our first child a little boy in March and I've just been consumed with parenting and work, but NOW; I'm a stay at home DAD because of funding cuts at work. Yep Laid off with the rest of the unfortunate American dealing with the economic downturn. Well, I've been dedicating a little more time to the tank. Last year we restocked a tank that had been running in idle keeping live rock satisfied. We did have a pair of Pink Skunks, but I cooked them letting the water level get too low and the sensor to the heater was exposed to room temp! Yes, The heater ran continuously until the tank was like a hot tub... We restocked with 1 Maroon Yellow Stripe, FireFish, 2 Reef Chromis, Toad Stool Coral, and Bubble tip Anemone. Now I have a Toad Stool, FireFish, Maroon Yellow Stipe and a bunch of zoanthid Pollips that has been in the tank and survived many catastrophic events over the years. Ice storm 2003 power outage! Killed off the entire tank, but Zoanthids came back???

I have a great deal of knowledge in reef tanks, but never really practice what I know. First off I have used tap water from a rural water company since 1999!!! Crazy huh... Well, I finally bought a RO/DI Filter mainly for drinking water, but added the DI with an extra out just for the tanks water changes and top offs. I have battled Algae for years and now lets see how long it takes to start clearing it up.

Well Fellow Reefers; I plan to be a little more active on the forum when my Son is Napping and I need a break from Job Searching.

    Sincerely,
    JAS3600

Welcome back! Being a neighbor from Michigan, I commiserate with the job situation. But being a house husband can have its advantages- more FST time (Father, Son, Tank)!

I LIKE F-S-T Time !!! GOOD ONE... Getting Laid Off is kinda the opportunity to hit the RESET Button and start over. I didn't realize how much I was missing with my Son and Tank!

Thanks to Obama we will be able to extend our Unemployment Compensation and continue the F-S-T time : )

Yes, but at who's expense? The deficit is at an all-time high, and the stock market is hitting new lows.
Anyway, good to see you back posting.
Now is a great time to be job searching as well taking some college classes to make yourself more marketable in your spare time.
