Just wanted to say hello, ive been reading/gathering information from this site for a few months, and this is my first post.
I am actually in the process of upgrading my 40G tank to a 110G with 20g sump, going to be transferring everything over. I started about 2 hours ago putting in 60lbs of new live sand and took a few cup fulls from my established 40g. I have about 100 gallons of water in the tank now. I have about 30lbs of live rock that im going to be moving over as well once my temperature stabilizes.

The question i have, is when it comes to moving the fish and corals over to the tank, do i need to acclimate them in a container first, or should i just take them out and put them right in tank. I have a rubbermaid tote and my plan was to do a water change on my 40g and put that water in the tote and then transfer fish into it and then slowly add the water from my 110g.
Can someone help me out with the best way to make this happen successfully??
    Appreciate any advice
    Thanks!!

You could drip acclimate them....the most important thing is that the temp is the same,(where they are to where they are going), along with pH and salinity. If these three are the same you shouldn't have any problems. you want to avoid sudden changes or you might have some things go into shock.

Thanks, right now i am playing the waiting game, my temp is only around 74-75 so i need it to get a few degrees higher before i attempt to add the rest of my rock and coral and fish.

    Thank you!
Should i start adding supplements right away as well?? Will that help the acclimation process for the corals i have?? (some mushrooms, zoes, xenia, brain)

At this time I would not add any supplements. Just check your cal, alk,and mag.

a good rule of thub is don't add till you test. if you mag and cal and all that is already at a good level, dosing for it could cause a negative effect. Just like how i wouldn't add a pH booster until i know forsure i need to go up.

its a 60x24x18 size tank ( i think thats about 100-110 right?) its an acrylic flat back hexagon shape. I grabbed it used from LFS, it had been sitting there for about 5 months. It was pretty scratched, but it came with a stand, 2 54w t5 ballasts, the reflectors, 3 koralia 2 powerheads and a 20 gallon wet/dry filter. I talked the guy down to 200bucks for the whole package, i couldnt believe it. I had to buff out the tank and paint the stand, and after a couple months today is the day to get it running. I scrapped the wet/dry part and got a Bubble Magnus nAC6 skimmer to put in that section. I will try and get some photos up later.
