How high should the bubbles go up? Should it be directly below the top of it so that they are barely cascading into the overflow cup?

edit: Found my answer in this post, derp.

what do you guys think..the SC150 with atman 2500 or the new pump (smaller i think) SC 180/302?

i wonder why it has a smaller pump but rated for more gallons?

    sc-65

So how is that sc-65 running? I have the older model, the sc-50 which has the same size and pump, I think they realized that it could handle quite a bit more bio-load and appropriately renamed it for what they consider decent bio-load (ie: sc-65 with medium bio-load for a 65)

I redesigned my system and am limited on what kind of space I have above my skimmer, so I hope the skimmer is working good for you, as it fits nice into my layout. The 150 would fit if I didnt need to pull the cup (assuming you need 2 inches to get the cup off), so I am curious about you guys with the 150 and how the overflow tube is working for remote collection of skimate, some of the photos I have seen, the skimate is REALLY thick, like it would have problems draining down air line or anything smaller than 1/2", let me know please.

I got the sc-150 with the pump on the inside of the cone. It has been working great for the past month i have had it but i shut it down for two days to treat a small red slim problem i had. I left it off for double what the treatment asked for but now when i power my skimmer up bubbles rush out of the blue dial tube and it also overflows into the collection cup even at the off position. I ran it at 4 for the past month and i did not have any trouble. Do i need to just wait another day?

The medication is rough. I posted a long thread about what I had to do with mine. I didnt tank the time to try to figure out if the skimmer really had to be cleared out (as in the medication/substance (chem-clean) sticks to the skimmer and clears out) or if the percentage of the medication/substance just gets done out.

But, I had to allow my over flow cup to fill 32 times before it recovered. I dumped (replacing with fresh mixed saltwater) over 8 gallons of water. This is after doing a 10gallon change on the system after the chemi-clean ran. Like I said above, I dont think just doing the water changes will provide what is needed), I believe that the chemi-clean in the system coats/sticks to the skimmer, and letting it foam into the cup and dumping it is whats needed, of course I have NO data to confirm this, I only did it once. If you search over the net, you will see lots of others talking about letting their skimmers overflow into the collection cup, for hours and hours until it begins working normal again. (you could always take the skimmer our and vinegar and hot water clean it to see if that makes a difference, which would support what I said above), or you can do like most, and run the skimmer, watch it overflow, pull the cup and dump, and keep doing it all the time replacing the water that is being pulled from the system.

The stuff works great, but it makes skimmers go crazy on everyone after its done, I literally thought mine would never stop, posted and posted and questioned and questioned, and on a Saturday afternoon, I went to bed with it still doing it, turned it off, and started again on Sunday, watched two football games, and then as the Sunday night game was starting, I noticed that finally the skimmer started to perform normal, and after I was done, I had done a 10 gallon water change first, then another 8 gallons or so via filling cup/dumping/adding water to sump. I forgot to mention, this was on a JBJ 28g )(23 gallons real water volume),

    hope this helps.

    -John
