How are you guys cleaning this thing? Just empty the cup or scrub it all out?

I clean the cup out every couple days and once a month scrub it out with a brush. kind of a pain since it doesn't come apart. Guess thats why it is a bit cheaper I still like mine though.

Looks just like my sc150, with the Atman 2500 pump.

I actually put a rubber garden house gasket around the base of the outlet, which the skimmer body sits on. This seems to tighten up the coneection slightly. I'm abel to run it on about 2&7/8-3.
I Also added an air intake adjuster I got from my marineland power heads.

    It's working awesome!

I use a kitchen sponge, with the green scrubber on one side, and it fits perfectly down in the cup. I clean it about every other day to every day.

    I'm loving this skimmer!

I got mine new, $95 shipped to my door- who'd a thunk?

I think you should check to see it the skimmer it seated properly onto the fitting on top of the pump. this will cause alot of microbubbles.

The micro bubbles have stopped thankfully. How long did it take everyone for the skimmer to break in? It's been a week and 2 days and not getting any skim mate. It's looking like its starting to froth, but no significant skim. I do like the extra hose connected at the bottom of the cup for easy quick drains. Thanks

If your tank is clean soluble protein-wise, it may take awhile.

Where do you have the level of bubbles in the tube? As a starting point, the top of the bubbles should be about the bottom of the cup. Lower for thicker and less skimmate, higher up for thinner and more skimmate.

It is set a little above the #3 setting at the bottom of the cup. It's frothy just not producing thick skim mate. I'm sure it's still the waiting game. I set it up in a re-vamped sump tank I built with a new 6" DSB with LR and Cheato. Also have a BRS dual reactor.

Has anyone tried piping this directly in line with a media reactor (ie biopellets)?
