The pump on my Coralife skimmer 65 died this past weekend so I ordered the 150. Being delivered to my door today for $115.00. I will give my 2 cents once I get it installed and running properly.

Just FYI, it took close to 2 weeks to get my'n broken in. It's just now starting to get some dark skim mate. I too went from the Coralife 65 to this, and glad I ;Ddid!

No I didn't. Several people have but nothing has happened for myself personally. If you want to know how to break down the skimmer I would see it'll be bennificial to. I don't know if a vinegar bath would decrease the break in period.

    Good Call on the skimmer!

Not everything in this hobby has to be so darn expensive, to still get a good, usable long term product!!

    I"m loving my SC150!

I even put an adjuster on the airflow intake, so I could slightly cut down the air intake, which allows me to run the skimmer at a slightly higher flow= more water volume/pass skimmed total.
    It's a very slight change.
The adjuster came with my MaxiJets.

Here's a little thread about it:

I have a quick question. I just did this mod a few days ago. How much are you dialing the airflow back? My skimmer is not getting thick bubbling, just very wet skim.
    Thanks

    Felix,

The air intake is dialed back VERY LITTLE!

Just enough for my to get about another 1/2 number on the output adjuster.

Like from 2&1/2, to 3, or something like that.

MIne still makes great, thick skim this way.

** Anytime any part of the air intake gets clogged with gunk also, this will cause more water flow, overflowing cup, etc.
