nice skimmer from what i can tell .. my fear on any cheap skimmer is the pump ...
looks like a good find though..
its amazing what skimmers are pulling out of our tanks for less money LOL

i saw these one day and was curious on what kind of performance they produced.. the truth is in the nog LOL

I bought an SC-65 on the recommendation of owners on the RC forum SC cone skimmer thread. It will be used on my 29 gallon rebuild. Here is a YouTube video of an SC-65 being used. It's not my video but that is definitely the SC-65 cone skimmer in action.

I tested it for about a week on an old reef tank that I was breaking down... there was only live rock & sand in the tank and no fish or corals. It still was able to build a nice head of foam and pulled some light tea colored skimmate... again there was little if anything to pull out in terms of dissolved organics as aside from the live rock and sand there was nothing else in the tank.

It runs very quietly and produces a ton of bubbles in the skimmer body. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding a 29 gallon mixed reef (working on a DIY custom stand right now) with a 15 gallon sump and feel very confident that the SC-65 will suit my needs very nicely.

Good to see this review, I ordered my sc150 based on a huge review from another forum (probably the same one you saw) and received it earlier this week. I'm just starting a new 65g tank so I don't have it set up yet, and I probably won't be able to tell if it's working better than other skimmers out there since it's my first, but once it starts producing all that nasty stuff I will post some pictures :)

i just got my SC-65 from ebay about 3 days ago for my 55g-FOWLR.
i like it, its well made and its real quiet! it hasnt produced any skimate in the cup yet.
but it does have some nasty gunk in the cup neck, i guess its till breaking in.
