So how's everyone's skimmer working ? Mine is still great but I did have a issue that took me a few to resolve. I noticed I didn't have as much bubbles in my skimmer as before and everyonce in awhile it was just over flowing and no bubbles but pulled the slimmer and found a goos amount of salt built up in airline connection at the pump ...
Cleaned it put and good as new.. Not really a issue but thought I'd post just in case any one experiences the same thing.

    Silor,

    Nice thread.

I happened onto this skimmer months ago from the thread on RC.

A few people had shipping damage, that always seemed to be quickly remedied by the seller. Mine has been damage free, working great since day 1.

I have the SC 150-2nd version with the 2500 pump external as you. It's in a bin in my DIY sump to keep the water level constant.
I have the drain line plug in so as to clean the cup every day or two.

What # do you run the height adjuster on? Mine's on about 2 and an 1/8th to produce good thick skim. I did put a rubber garden hose washer between the pump barbed outlet and the bottom of the skimmer body, made no difference really though.'

Best skimmer for the buck- bar none.

    Thanks Todd !
I'm glad it's helping some people ! I really wanted to share this with everyone because it really is a great skimmer I think anyone would be hard pressed to get a better one for this price or even close to this price.
And customer service is pretty top notch IMO.

I run my skimmer around 2.5 for a good skim on my tank.

    Siler,

ON 2.5, how deep is the skimmer in your sump?, Ya know, bottom of skimmer to top of water?
I thought the deeper it was, the easier it was to get the bubbles near the top and the more flow you could run thru the skimmer- like keep it on 3 or greater, ya think?
At 2.5, not that much flow actually gets thru the skimmer really.

I raised my some, and need to keep it on about 2 and an 1/8 to keep it skimming good and dark, but still get some skim.

Still no complaints on mine. It does an incredible job. Silor i really appreciate this thread, it saved myself some money. And from the look of things this skimmer does a better job and the expensive counterparts. Guys this skimmer is a no brainer. Here is a pic of just one day worth I'd skimming on a 40 gal breeder with four very small fish
