    what do scarlet hermit crabs eat?

    i recently got a baby one, thinking he would eat uneaten food that lands on the bottom of the tank, but he seems more interested in the diatom that is growing slightly on a shell in there. would he be ok in eating only algae stuff, or should i still try to get some food down there for him?

    Not sure specifically about scarlets, but crabs in general I don't worry about. They seem to take care of themselves and do fine. I don't have fish and don't feed my corals much, and these little hermits I have do just fine.
