    Thanks for the info Phil...that is pretty much what I wanted to hear. ;) I figure if I get into the habit of doing that from the beginning it will be better off for the tanks occupants. I had heard of ammonia pockets but I don't think it would apply to a LR setup with very few fish. The sulphur pockets are the enemy and that is why I am taking my time with the CPW setup. 8)

    Here some more info for y'all. His dsb is anywhere between 4 to 5 inches deep. Also the grain size is 1 - 2mm, it's a mixture of Oolitic and Fiji Pink. HTH :)
