I'm starting to think of my stocking for a 75 FOWLR. Last time I had it set up I had a bluejaw trigger, hippo tang and purple tang. This time I am thinking I will def. want a school of Ocellaris clowns. What would I be able to have in the tank?

Clowns are not schooling fish. They will appear to ball up if sleeping or in fear.

I would only attempt multiple of the same type clowns if I could get all clowns very young or from the same hatch.

If by school you mean more then 3-5 then no, tank is not big enough.

Keeping multiple clowns is tricky. You must avoid two females if you want them to interact. Two adult females will not work out. In the end you want 1 Dominate female, 1 dominate male and a group of sexually immature clown.

If you do attempt it and your goal is to have anemones as well then I would make the tank a species tank, fish wise.

Remember clowns are magnets for Brooklynella and Marine Ich so it would behoove you to QT them.

I was thinking 3 Ocellaris clowns. Not really looking for an anemone. Would I be better off adding Clowns first to the tank or it doesn't really matter?

Not so much ocellaris clowns, but a lot of clowns can be brutally violent. Luckily I've never had much aggression between my two ocellaris clowns (I got them both before they were sexual mature) but I've seen some clowns at the LFS bullying other fish to death, especially other clownfish. I think if you get three that might go fine for a while but eventually two of them are going to gang up on the other and you're going to end up with two clownfish. For the sakes of not pushing the limits, I recommend sticking with just two of the same species.

If I get a pair of tank bred ones at a small size will there be any issue with adding other fish later? I'm thinking of adding the clowns first since they seem to be pretty hardy.

    just my 2 cents
