Chromis are good schooling fish for a mixed tank. They are from the damsel family but are much less aggressive.

Cardinal are cool and do school. They tend to hid in the shadows though.

If you get chromis, I recommend the Blue Reef Chromis. Much prettier. Check out LiveAquaria for a good pic.

Contrary to some belief about schooling chromis, they are less likely to school (like you see in discovery channel) in home aquarium. If you can afford and can keep up feeding, anthias are better choice.

I have three anthias and they school well together. Not all the time, but they do. They are very active and beautiful.

However, anthias are not very hardy and can be very difficult to get eating. So keep that in mind.

I have vanderbilts..... much better coloration than your typical blue chromis. I have 3 vanderbilts and 3 chromis and they form two seperate groups in my tank. its pretty sweet.

I've got five anthias in my 150 and they're awesome. As reefwizard mentioned, being able to keep up with their feeding requirements is probably the hardest part. They really need to be fed 2-3 times a day, which as you know is not so desirable in a reef system. I manage with tons of skimming, two fuges with a lot of macro/mangroves, run GFO and carbon 100% of the time and do weekly water changes . still not perfect, but I keep up...

I would go with some Bangaii Cardinals. They are pretty when they school.

Cardinals are my choice. They're pretty hardy. I have four blue/green chromis in my system. started off at 10 but only four left don't know why lol.
