I just picked up a scoly from someone local and they claimed it has been open forever but today its closed up. I have it in my tank now and its still closed up pretty good and in 2 spots I can see skeleton kinda. Will it be ok, how long does it take to adjust and what flow/light do they need/like?

I will post a pic in a few minutes for you.

    Thanks!

They usually take a day or two to settle in. They like low light and low flow. They may not do well under metal halides unless they're shaded.

Sick scolly (in the good way) was it showing that much tissue loss when you got it? (in the bad way)

Honestly, he doesn't look healthy to me. Unless you got him for almost free I would ask for your money back.

that's how mine looked for the first couple of days. I won't worry too much about it. What type of lighting do you have?
The lost tissue will regenerate in a few days. Do you see any feeder tentacles out at night?

ooo that is in bad shape... it should be big and puffy. Try laying some food on it to see if the feeders come out
heres mine for reference of size:

I just got it today and it has been in my tank only for 3 hours. I am going to move it to a corner where there is some shade and lower flow. I have MH and PC lights so maybe it will do better there.

Hopefully it comes back for me in a couple days....you guys have me hopeful and nervous all at the same time.

.... It has the potential to be a very nice piece.

I had a small Scolymia and it liked low low low light. Like mentioned above try feeding it and see what happens.

EDIT: Dingo that is a beautiful coral. I love the red and gray. Mine was just bright green.
