Scolymia Problems

    Apparently in the middle of the night my scolymia has attempted to eat a cerith snail. The snail is now inside its mouth i can see a part of its shell. What will happen. Im pretty sure the Scoly cant digest the shell so will it spit it out or die or should I try to assist I need some advise

    I've heard of this happening. Someone had there star polyps do the same thing. It will spit the shell back up by itself.

    It should spit out anything it can't eat, including the shell.

    That is kinda crazy, though. lol

    No need to worry. It will spit it out when it's done.

    ok thanks guys, I assumed the same but with a great tool like 3reef at our dispposal why not ask right? Yeah it definetly tripped me out and after a good double take realized I was looking at a snail shell, poor little guy must have dropped right on top of the scoly. Good to hear it will be ok because this is in my top three corals in my tank :)

    I think my plate coral did the same thing...I swore I saw a piece of shell sticking out of its mouth one day. I figured it would spit out what it didn't want...never saw any ill effects:)
