Looks like I'm Late to the conversation.

I have never heard of the waiting 4 weeks to put water in the tank. But it is required from glasscages for the warranty.

    I like blue.

Any ideas how the sump should be setup. I really need inputs on this.

I'm thinking return pumps on the right and the water flow from the tank on the left. Skimmer in the left center. I'm planning on making changes to the sump to closely match that of the Proflex sumps. With the way the water comes into the sump. I have the proflex sump on the 90 and it is really quiet.

Anythougts on the sump would be great. I have been in this hobby for about 3 years now.

    Money

I have about $11,000.00 in this 300 gal setup so far. Still have about $3,000.00 to add to it just for the sand and live rock. I set aside 15k for this 300 gal tank.

Just saw this build now; awesome is all I can say! I dream of an 8' 300 gallon tank :)

As far as the sump question, the way you described it is how I would set it up.

Just ordered the 300 lbs of dead rock. 160 lbs of sand and 160 lbs of crushed coral. that will give me about a 3" bed in the tank.

I painted the tank blue yesterday.

I'm going to organize people to put it on the stand this next weekend.

I got most of the changes made to the sump this weekend. Going to get that finished up this week and the pluming.

I have more apex parts coming Monday. I still have allot of programming to do on the apex. It is running really slow the more I add to it.

Got all the lights hooked up. Still need to call Neptune to order the cable that goes from the light controller to my lights. I will do that Monday I think.

When I get the sand and dead rock I will wash it and put it in the tank with it up on the stand.

The weekend of the 15th March im going to put water in the tank and go to Hartford and get 100lbs of Live Rock to add to the tank to help seed the dead rock. That will be another $1000.00.

I'm up to about $13k on this tank so far.

Altogether about $14k to start this 300gal monster of a tank up with no livestock.

When I get it all setup I will post a complete list of equipment.
