Have a 10 gallon tank with live rock, two snails, and a hermit crab. Added a sea anemone to the tank two days ago and he's been walking around a lot. When I went to bed, he was still walking around. This morning I awoke to find him up the glass on the side of the tank stuck in impeller in the power head. The power head was in the top corner of the tank out of the way and I have no clue what inspired the anemone to make its way up there.

So my question is: Is there anything I can do for the anemone in terms of treatment now that a small chunk has been ripped out of him. Or do I just let him be and hope for the best?

Just got to hope for the best. If they are moving its because they are not happy. What type of lighting do you have? Water Params? How old is the tank?

It's a Coralife PC 96 watt 20 inch 4 tube 50/50. Ph is about 8.3, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, and the salinity is about 1.023. The tank has been running for about 3 weeks. Maybe there was too much water flow between the power head and the filter?

Your tank isn't mature enough to adequately house an anemone, particularly with that small of a tank. Be careful that it doesn't die in your tank, as it can poison your tank. Anemones are best left for more established tanks and more experience hobbyists. There isn't much you can do for it. Try to feed it to see if it will accept food.

We'd been working with the LFS since we started the tank and they said an anemone would have been okay to introduce, but apparently it's not. This is good to know.

    Welcome to 3 reef sailorgirl

Sorry your early experience has been a bad one in the world of salt water tanks
if its any consulation , even experienced reef keepers can have issued with Nems ( they are a gorgeous, nuisance IMO)

one other thing to do, is cover the intake on the power head with some foam and a rubber band - that way if the wanderlust does occur again your covered

Coldshot a member of this site posted images of such covers - Ill try and find them and add them later (If he is on and beats me to it, that would be great also)

That's a good idea. I'd definitely be interested in seeing the pictures.

If you're anemone begins to move you need to cover those powerheads. I have a couple of Koralias. When I go on vacation or if the anemone is acting strangely I wrap them with bridal veil netting from a hobby store. You can use a rubberband to hold it in place. It does reduce the flow quite a bit once the netting gets dirty so you'll have to change it often.
