It will stay in a place where it likes the lighting and water flow, or maybe it will not.
I have found anemones to be a PITA when it comes to that. If you want something that is easy to care for and won't move, try trading the anemone in for a frogspawn coral.

What kind of anemone did you buy?
Some anemones are more hardy than others, though should be left to the more experienced aquarist in my opinion.
Anemones require many critical variables be met in efforts for the anemone to have any chance of success.
Also, care must be taken when introducing an ameone in a tank housing other sessile inverts and corals especially, since anemones will move around til the find a happy place in which to take a stronghold and attach their foot. They carry a potent sting as different anemones possess various amounts of nematocysts used to sting their neighbors.
Getting an anemone to stay in one location will be hard to do from a human point of view and is best to offer the anemone ideal lighting, water flow and suitable water parameters to aid in the stationary home within the confines of a marine biotope.
    good luck!

get a nice rock or shell with a nice hole in it that the anemone can fit its foot/base in...they feel alot more comfortable in tight spots...i have a giant Haitian anemone and they are famous for taking a stroll around tanks and i bought a nice cluster of barnacles and as soon as i put his base in a barnacle he stayed put...also my anemone crab tries his best to keep it in place...also found out that they move when there no light at night and when theres less current...i keep my moonlights on for him and he likes it where he is;D;D;D

Anenomes move wherever they want they do not care what u think they will go where they wana be. Sadly you have no say in where they choose to be, some anenomes are more likely to stay put in ym expierence my sebea or saebe anenomes dont really move or mine has not sence i first put him in. My two bulb anenomes moves for the first couple days then settled down now they rarely move.

just thought i should go ahead and ask, but what kind of lighting do have, how big is you tank, and do you have current going? It may not have found a "happy place" yet because some of these requirements may not be met.

getting one to stay still is not gonna happen, but a handy trick for getting one to move it's ass is to direct a powerhead at it. It will get pissed and move.

Unless it's like mine and loves the massive shot of water blowing at it... mine won't move, you have to stick ice to it for it to move...

Then again, maybe it won't move cause it learned it's lesson last time when it got sucked into the powerhead.....
