Does anyone here have experience with Sea Apples?

I did something maybe not so smart today and let my man buy something that I didn't know anything about at local coral farm, this was of course a Sea Apple. I'm seeing the biggest problem is that if they get stressed or die they are very toxic and can kill the whole tank. I also saw something that you have to feed them supplemental phytoplankton daily... geesh... this is what I get for allowing such an un-researched purchase! Any info would be great, thanks!

Pharmrjohn has one, you might want to talk to him about it. But yea, they are very sensitive to water quality, and need to be fed a lot. If it becomes stressed or dies, you can kiss your whole tank goodbye and get ready to start over, as it will even wipe out your bacteria for the cycle. Very beautiful though.
    How old is your tank?

I would take it back,, but that's just me .. It is tempting to try such a beautiful creature.
I asked a guy in my LFS about the tanks getting wiped out ... he said everyone he know that has tried on has had the whole tank die.

I can certainly understand why people take them home... probably one of the most beautiful creatures in the ocean.

It would probably be OK for a night. Just in case if your really worried, run carbon in your filtration system

I don't have any carbon unfortunately. We have just decided we'll do a water change and leave it in a tub of the removed water and it should make it through the night. My luck if I leave it in the tank tonight it will find a powerhead to get killed on or something ridiculous and I'll wake up to a dead tank.

These animals have a reputation for being extremely dangerous to a coral reef aquarium, they only cause problems in self-defense. A sea apple can make an attractive and interesting addition to well-designed aquarium in which the animal is protected from pump intakes and receives appropriate and sufficient food

    That scares me.....

Phytoplankton is their main diet, and from my understanding - they require ALOT. They are marked as an Expert item on my chart at the house.
