    Hello everyone,

I am just starting my tank and everyone said I needed a protein skimmer. I purchased the Sea-clone 150 and set it up. My question is that it seems to put off alot of bubbles into the water. When I adjust the air flow it seems to be all or nothing. Any suggestions on what I should be seeing to get it working properly.

    Thanks

    Deron

Mine did the same for a while, until it broke in.
For mine the key was to open the adjuster all the way and then close it SLOWLY until the bubble is gone from the j tube. Sounds like a pipe coming un-clogged. From there back it off a hair making sure the bubble doesnt come back into the tube and let it sit for a day or three.

i had that skimmer when i first started in this hobby and found it makes a better pencil holder on my desk than a protein skimmer :) You need to constantly adjust the thing to get anything out of it and it would always feed bubbles back into the water from the return feed. It is more of a hassle to try to keep up with adjusting it every day than to just get a skimmer that will actually work well. I do feel for you though cause i made the same mistake with purchasing that skimmer when i first got into the hobby.

    Good day,

What size tank are you running this on?

I modified my Seaclone-150 when I got it, (just google Seaclone Mods), that helped it skim quite a bit more... As for needing to adjust it, did not experience that issue, but did have to keep an eye on the collection cup as it would fill up in 3-4 days. I ran in on a 75 g system with a 20 g sump and moderately stocked...

Now, after a year, I did upgrade to the Aqua-C so that we could increase the stock level and have a collection cup drain to a 1 g jug to reduce maintenance.

same here. I bought one too and now it's sitting in a box full of the other pieces of junk I've bought over the year, SeaClone, Via Aqua and Jebo are all junk and they REALLY should get out of the skimmer biz. I never could get mine to work correctly without dumping massive bubbles into the tank and I never got green gunk out, so I bought an AquaC Remora. 1000 x better skimmer. How long ago did you buy it? got your receipt? you may want to contact the co. you bought it from and get them to take it back. Serious..
