If any of you have a seaclone skimmer as I do, Dont laugh guys I know they suck, you can make them work better, with a modification the the maxijet power head, replacing the impeller with a bioball.

I did this and WOW what a difference, its still not the best, but will get me by till I get the one I want. :uzi:Seaclone:rifle:

All you have to do is remove the maxijet, remove the spindell that holds the impeller, pull it apart, remove the impeller, and replace it with a chopped down bioball half, I also had to superglue the bioball inplace, if you need anything else let me know.

so you are virtually mesh moding a maxijet....You can do the same thing with a piece of Enkamat. I have a few things that i have done to these skimmer to make them work much better than they do out of the box. The two best mods i have done have been pretty simple. just adding a better air valve is the easiest thing to do and cutting the inner most riser tube about 2-3 inches shorter makes it pull a lot more goo!

I need a little help on cutting the inner most tube. Are you talking about the tube which causes the tornado effect, if so how do you remove it? And after you remove it how do you put it back?

yes the one that causes the "tornado" It is a bit of a pain to get it out but it isnt glued in. So if you take the skimmer apart there are a few o-rings that should come out so you can get the thicker tube out of the middle and enable you to get inside the body of the skimmer. Then i just kept running fresh hot water in it to get it a bit loose and gently rocked it back and forth till it came out. It took some patience but it will come out. Then just use a chop saw to trim it down. than put it all back together.
