Fix whatever's causing your algae problem before adding something to eat it. I've never had them live very long in my tanks and when they die, it can be disastrous.

They do an amazing job of cleaning your tank of hair algae. Their main downside is that you have to have a plan for where it will go when you run out of algae. At the store, we would sell them and if they brought them back within 3 weeks, we gave them 50% store credit.

They are some of most gentle CUC you can find. Never heard of one knocking things over, but like others said you will run out of food for it. How big is your tank. There are a few awesome fish that will knock out algae and keep it gone for good.

Sea Hares seem to be hit or miss. We are always able to keep them alive in our stock tanks for a good amount of time. Once we add them to a customers aquarium, we're not really sure what happens after that point. Some live for years and keep hair algae to a minimum, some eat hair algae for a few weeks and disappear.

We acquired a reef account and the customer had a horrible case of hair algae. We added a smaller size sea hare (some of the sea hares we get in are like a foot long  ) and he has been thriving in the tank for years. The tank looks great, and he eliminated all the hair algae except for a small patch which the sea hare keeps well trimmed and it looks pretty cool in the tank.

Bristletooth tangs would do well in that size and eat hair algae like crazy.

Hair Algae. But it only seems to be on the back of my glass. Nowhere else, a little on the sand but most of my hermits and snails took care of that.
