if you have a big enough tank a bristletooth tang or foxface rabbit fish would do a number on it too.

I've had the exact same experience with Sea Hares either they die on there own within 24 hour or I find them sucked intomy closed loop intake. But I have seen a lot of people's tanks that have been successfully GHA cleaned by the use of a sea hare

sea hares are a shame that way....better for dwarf sea horse tanks, they have similar flow requirements...those guys love intakes and powerheads....also very prone to salinity change death...you can tell if they bloat or shrivel quickly within a day. Anemones can sting them to death, and some soft/hard coral too. Well sorry to hear it.

I just don't get it. I've (knocks on wood) had GREAT luck with not only Sea Hare(s) living but with them gobbling up tons of GHA. I've got 2 in my 90g tank and they have been there.... I'd guess 8 - 9 months maybe. ..

I'm thinking sea hares are hit or miss. Either they'll do great or curl up and die on you. I bought a brown, ugly thing a couple weeks ago. It did NOTHING. Oh, wait... yes it did: it INKED in my tank, turning the water in my 12g PINK. I did an immediate water change, and waited. Within 24 hours of buying the thing, it was curled up in the back corner of the tank, DEAD. Stinky thing, too.
This past weekend, I decided to try another one. My gha problem is driving me nuts, and my 2 Sally Lightfoot crabs seemed to be slacking off. I found a GORGEOUS little sea hare at a LFS, and it is the one with beautiful blue spots (can anyone give me a scientific name?). After removing the Sallys and acclimating the seahare for about an hour, I let it go to work- and did it EVER! My tank has a good 60% less gha than it did only 2 days ago. NOW my problem is making sure it has food, because I really like it and want to keep it. Does anyone know- could I add macro algae to feed it?
