Hello I have recently bought a sea hare from my LFS. It died within the next 2 days. I originally bought this to take care of my red wiry algae problem. So I then bought another one yesterday. And it is already dead. I cannot figure out what's wrong!! Any help?

What is your acclimation technique? What salinity was it in at the store? What is the salinity in your system? What are your nitrate levels?

I've heard that hares are hard to keep. I've been looking for one to take care of my hair algae but my LFS doesn't stock it since it is so hard to keep.

I haven't yet checked the params. Could it possibly not be compatable with peppermint shrimp or cleaner shrimp?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
There are quite a few different species of Sea Hares.

An image or the scientific name of the type you are buying will help narrow down their dietary needs. While a lot are not available routinely in the trade some unusual ones do make it to the market place.

You can supplement their diet. There is good chance that ones at the LFS are not having their dietary needs met. Sea Hares are short lived, making it hard to narrow down if you simply got an older Sea Hare or one that has been starved.

The link below is a good place to start to do some research into the husbandry of Sea Hares.
