My point would be that even the largest aqariums in the world have seperate seahorse and pipefish tanks. Keeing a fish in an aquarium that is not at their preferred temperature is cruel in my opinion. I would love to keep a catalina goby in my reef, but they are temperate, and they just dont work in reef tanks. The same goes for garibaldis, tinkeriis, or any of the Chaetodon genus for that matter. They have special needs and they should be met.

There is also a huge difference between something surviving and something thriving. This hobby means nothing if we dont learn from it, and learning starts with respect. Maybe your seahorses will make it a few years, but they have the possibility of making it many more in a tank that is designed for them. I'm not pointing the finger at you specifically, I hope they do great, but in general people are trying to get too much out of what they have. Look at how many "can I fit a tang" threads there are.

It is definitely an good discussion to have, but probably not appropriate for this thread. I am still interested in seeing pictures and hope they do very well for you.

"largest public aquariums in the world" are purely for shock value. It would be pointless to house a seahorse in it....no tourist would be able to see it. Hence the reason they create awesome seahorse habitats.

yea.. pics.. i dont judge at all. In fact. like some people have said.. No body gets anywhere by speculating and not trying. im really hoping it works, because sea horses are pretty cool.
    So K+.
Also, I think most or at least some of the alleged experience with sea horses that people have does not apply, simply because they went by what they were told to do. NOT by actual experimental experience. This doesnt apply to everyone. And YOU know if this applies to you.
1000000 years of experience doing something isnt going to do much difference if you try something new.
Hypothesis become laws when PROVEN so, by actually doing the experiment.

i think most people even come across rude... i mean... telling him how long they have left? i dont think that comes from experience nor it helps the cause. nor is it proper for this forum, since its made to help not criticize people when they dont ask for it.

with that said.. wish you luck.;);)

Guess OP didn't understand the post he pumped up. Dang NY wins the pennant and you get a new avatar

Large aquariums are all about a good EXPERIENCE for people who PAY to get in. They creat these cool little seahorse exhibits so people can see these creatures up close. Plain and simple. I never stated this is a better environment for these horses I simply stated "look people these things can do well in a mild reef tank"
