Has anyone heard of this product??? It is a hand painted synthetic rock. My fiancee picked up 4 pieces really cheap (on clearence and it looks really neat) Its like live rock that wont die. 2 questions can corals be place on the synthetic rock, and 2 is there any possibility of it damaginge my true live rock?

    Thank you

FYI, I have deleted your other threads as double posting is not necessary. I'm a bit confused about your question though. How can live rock never die? Also, do you have any idea what this rock is made of?

i guess he means it will look alive, but if your real live rock is dying you should probably figure out why rather then just go with fake live rock. is the real rock dead or just not pretty on the outside, cause my rock has taken quite a long time, probably close to a year to start growing nice coraline...i would also agree with being concerned about the paint, saltwater can be pretty corrosive stuff depending on whats in it...i would at least let it sit in a bucket of salt water for some time before putting it in the tank...

Sorry. I guess it is a plastic or resin product painted to look like live rock. I guess she got it at a retail pet store. She knows I have been looking for live rock for quit some time now and I guess she thought this was what I ment. Anyway It looks cool but I am a little worried about it. Product lable says it is reef safe but Im skeptical.

My live rock is fine, getting prettier by the day. Really it is just a cheap space filler. I need to find a good place for more live rock I guess, or even base rock to seed

It is ok for you to use however, unlike live rock don't expect it to be any kind of biological filter. That being said the only reason to have it in the tank would be for look and possibly happiness for the fish. Your coral will grow on it perfectly fine just like it would for any other rock. Hope this helps and as for your fiance goes it is the thought that counts right ^^
