I want to get a sea urchin for 30 gallon biocube. But I hear they will knock everything over like a bulldozer. Im kinda okay with that, EXCEPT my galaxia coral which sits on top of the rock. If that thing falls, not only it will hurt him self alot, his sweeper tentacle would literally sting everything, especially if this happend at night time. Is this a bad idea for me?

Are there any urchins that wont like, make stuff fall? lol

lol. I think that is sort of in the nature of most urchins. I want one too & will have to secure things down with epoxy first. But secure it in sections so you can still take it apart if you ever need to move.

My problem was finding an urchin that will work for a 29/30g.

I have one in my tank (29 gal) and it is doing great. I have a blue tuxedo, which has a minimum tank size of 20 gal, so that is one you could get. Yes, they can bulldoze things over, but again, that is their nature. Hope you find one. They are the cutest things :)

It depends. If you don't mind it being small just get a small Blue or Orange Tuxedo. I have a couple fairly large sized ones in my 55 gal. and they don't really bulldoze. I have 2 mid-sized ones in my 14 gal. and they haven't knocked anything over. I watch mine a lot and I don't know if it's just the ones I got or what but they will try to go onto a tight spot and any resistance at all and they back out.

The best one for a reef tank that is not as cumbersome knocking over corals and rock is the Black Diadema(orange eye). They do get large but if you purchase a small one, it will last in your tank for awhile depending on food sources. Once the urchin gets too big, you can simply take it back to your local pet shop for a credit on another small one. I have done this numerous times as they are really great invertebrates for a reef tank. Mine is about 8" now in my 125 reef and it is very gentle as it moves about my tank in search of food, helping to keep my tank clean.

That orange eye is the one I wanna get. I'll probably end up getting a small one.
