Longspines do get huge. Had one that opened up to about 10 inches across. Kept it in a 100G rubbermaid sump. I've had several tuxedo urchins and never had a problem with them. They do knock stuff off rocks and will pick up small frags and decorate themselves.

Mine was easily 6-7 inches across.. I was losing zoas a lot and on more than one occasion I found it on top of them. I don't suggest that every urchin will behave the same, but my zoas have exploded after getting rid of my urchin. My personal opinion is that they are awesome creatures but I won't have one in my tank again.

Let me clarify. I would not keep a longspine in a display tank either. Even if they didn't bother coral, they get too big. The tuxedos I kept have never caused any major issues.

Good info guys. It's just that my gf wants one. And I want to make her happy so she doesn't cut my funds. She really wants a tang as well. But i know they just won't do for a 40B

btw...I have trimmed my urch, because he was having difficulty running through my rockwork...I know, some will disagree, but it does not hurt them if done correctly, and it all grows back...its kinda like trimming a dogs toe nails...dont want to go to much at once. :-/
