    Hi Everyone,

Currently I have an 8 bulb T5HO setup on a display tank of 75 G and my Nitrates where around 30 PPM and I added a basic hermit CUC.

I have left the lights operating and the end result is I have sea weed type growth. It is actually nicely to look at and is roughly situation towards the top layer of rocks.

I have been moving it to my refugium as my nitrates are not even detectable now.

IS there any harm in me letting it grow for the time being?

It will be fine, moving it to the refuge is a good idea.

It's standard hair algae, I would get some chaeto for your refugium

If you want it ID'd down to the species, I work with a Phycologist with 5 post docs... Algae is what he does (phycology - study of algae). I'd need a sample to show him though.

I think it is sea lettuce -- it is a welcome addition at this time being the tank was just started and it's adding a bit of colour. I do have cheato in the refug. If it is harmless - I will leave it for now :)

Gresham is right...it is DEFINITELY Ulva (sea lettuce). We've kept it in the past, and it will grow into very long, wide "ribbons". What can happen is that when they get too long, they can break off and can clog overflows and intakes, so just do a daily check on them.

Other than that, it's really nice stuff IMHO/IME.
