i just received my sebae that i ordered from petsolutions and it arrived with its BEAUTIFUL light brown with purple tips and was not bleached. which surprised me bcuz i had heard that they usually bleach when shipped. i have 2 perculas and an ocellaris, if any of these fish choose to host the anemone will it help its chances of surviving becuz it has a host? and also how often should i try to feed it? right now it will not eat anything

thanks ray! i have owned a tank for years, but am just now about to embark on inverts. i too get the sense that a lot of folks over-quote what is necessary to keep healthy inverts with respect to lighting after speaking with certain tank owners. i guess the only way to find out is to jump in (after doing lots of research :) and find out for myself :)

Just thought, after seeing so many comments on other types of anemone, that I need to qualify my remarks from my previous post.
I only have experience with the sebae anemone and cannot say that the same conditions would apply to other types.

I've had mine a few months now i think...mine came in a creamy white with purple tips, and after a few days under my actinic it now has a fluorescent green tint to it, it's kinda neat, sometimes if I have company over after my lights turn off I'll leave just the blues on for the ooohs & ahhh's lol...once I put mine in the tank it found its home & stayed there, and my clarkii was weary at first, but within a few days also, he found himself a new home. Just yesterday though, I noticed it inching away from its spot, now its on the other side of the rock...I'm hoping it's health isn't declining...I don't feed it as often as I should, maybe like once ever couple weeks, and I have yet to notice any browning...what are your thoughts 10acrewoods? Oh, and great article btw!

Great article.. glad to see something about nems. I believe a lot of the horror stories scare people from keeping them. I may have to get one for the new tank. I miss having them. I traded my LTA when they outgrew my tank.. and my sebae b/c I was afraid it was going to nuke the tank.
