After a long discussion with the young man who sold us the anemone and the lights he agreed to take the anemone back and offered us some small pieces of trumpet coral which he says will be easier to maintain. [IMG]

The seabe is probably just too much for us right now.

Hope it has a better life soon.

Thanks to all for the feedback/advice.

    Every party benefited.

I would go with the T-5s, personally. Do they have individual reflectors?

I would consider replacing the bulbs when funds permit. ATI bulbs are a good option. They run about $20 each and should last a good year.

That is helpful advice. Yes - they have individual reflectors. Three white bulbs and one blue. Sorry I don't know actual specs but the unit was used and we had no idea what questions to ask. Glad we didn't get rid of them.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you do want to keep corals the T5 is a much better option than the LED fixture you were advised to buy. I can not imagine why he sold you that fixture knowing you were keeping corals and an Anemone, tisk tisk....Well at least he took the Anemone back.

Just hang around here and you will pick up good advice. It's a fantastic hobby but an expensive one if you let the guy at the fish store talk you into buying stuff.

Thank you to everyone who shares their experiences here. Wish we had been involved sooner. Evidently the lights look better than they perform. We were also misled about the cost of bulbs. So, a few lessons learned.

Looking forward to learning how to care for the system and those wonderful beings that inhabit it!
