I have a SeaBae aneome that I've had now for about 2 weeks. It use to hold onto a rock. Within the past week it clings to nothing. Looks fine. Base is a bright white, the mouth and front is the off white with light blue tips. I feed it Krill about twice a week.
The past week it just rolls along in the sand, where ever the clown seems to push/guide it. The clown stays in it all night.
Is it fine for the SeaBae to be unattached, to just roll? I've tried a couple times to hold it in place to attach to a LR - doesn't seem to like it.
Can it just hang out on the sand?

Any anemone should not be free floating or rolling about. For the sebae species, I have seen hundreds out on the reefs here and they all are always found on the side of a rock with their foot planted deep down in the sand going under the rock. Here is a photo of a typical sebae location that I took awhile back.

    And another within my system:

Pick any large rock and scoop out a narrow tunnel going up under the rock and place the anemone's foot into the depression and it should take hold unless the water flow is so strong as to push it away. If so, then redirect the flow for a day or two untill the anemone plants itself. If it does not, put it right back again and it should take.

Last night I tried placing the SeaBae in a spot so he would not move. Along came the clown and knocked him out. I moved him twice. So this time I placed him deeper into the hole - along came the clown and messed with the SeaBae and of course out it came. I pick it up very gently but I am afraid of hurting it by moving it so much. The clown just loves it.
My husband wants to glue the SeaBae - which I said no.
I will be careful so as not to let it get near anything to suction it up, lost one before that way.
Can the anemone just stay in the sand in a spot away from the powerheads? And should it be up near the lights or is it fine lower down(90 gal tank-more tall than long)?

You can't glue an anemone to rock. Part of the problem is your clown. It's not allowing the anemone to settle in before it tries to nest in it and that's stressing the anemone out. No matter where you try to place it, the anemone will move itself to a spot that it finds "adequate" for its survival.

Hey I'm not being rude, just letting you know, it's SeaBAE, not SeaBIE. Pronounced Sea-bay, not Sea-bee.

Also if it's not attaching to anything at all, then my guess is something is wrong. Maybe its foot is damaged or something.

What kind of lights do you have? How old is your tank?

Thank you for the miss spelling. At work and have had 5 interruptions.I set the tank up in May '07 - when I examined the aneome, all looks fine. The light are T-5 (4 bulbs) about 6 inches from the water.
Tonight I could try finding a hole that the clown won't go near.
As you see I'm still new at all this and appreciate everyones help.
Thank you. By the way - I love the pictures of the clowns, I wish I could have more in the tank besides the 2 Saddle Clowns.

for the experts, would isolating the clown for a couple of days or so help with the issue? Just put them into one of those mesh thingies on the side of the tank? That way the anemone can find a good place to attach to without disturbances. I don't know if that would stress the fish out too much, so don't do this until the experts weigh in on it.

I'm no expert But my experience has taught me time and time again an anemone should never be kept in ant tank with corals..So if you have a reef tank with any type of corals then its not a good idea to keep them in there.
