If you’re having trouble maintaining your PH, yes – this is a good product. You can not over dose it which is a nice plus. Water changes helps as well. Seachem adds magnesium, calcium and strontium to this buffer – make sure you are testing for these as well. You should never add anything you can’t test for.

    +1 on Crimson Ghost

but dont forget Crystal, with a tank less than 3 months old, and still cycling
your PH can swing a bit IME

also with no livestock at present , you dont have to worry to much about a low PH

    what is your current PH?

Insufficient info here. If you are having an issue, discovering the "why" something is happening is more important than "band-aiding" the problem. First, did you check PH before the lights were on or after they were on for awhile? Check the PH before and mid-day to get a more accurate reading.

It is because of CO2 in your tank. There are organisms in your tank going through photosynthesis. As they use CO2 your pH will rise, but when your lights are off your pH will drop because of the build up of CO2 in your tank.

If your pH is 8 during the night and 8.4 during the day I honestly wouldn't worry about it to much. Do you have a fuge or anything like that?
