I was reading through the archive and found a thread on Seachem Reef Complete and Reef calcium and it was hard to read with all the quotes and unquotes. Just to simplify for me does anyone here use these supplements and is it a must have. What I gather from the thread they are good to use together. Any opinions.

I'm not a big fan myself of adding not needed supplements. What kind of load do you have in the tank. what kind of corals do you have. if you don't over skim and you have a fairly small load, your water changes should do good. The salt should have the minerals needed for the tank. If you have a really high coral and fish load to use up the elements I think it's a good idea. Does this make sense???? Try testing your calcium before you start adding tho.

they are good general supplements. There are better calcium additives out there like b-balance. It would figure out what your tank needs. for example if you are unable to maintain CA and ALK between water changes. Then start looking at what is out there to help buffer those elements.

i use all seachem products, find out the tanks consumption rates on Ca,dKH,Mg, then dose accordingly. i only have sps which uses alot of elements, so a Ca reactor is in play also.
