I've been using the regular blue bucket salt by red sea for almost a year and every batch has been spot on. I too had a problem with RSCP when I got a batch that was milky white no matter what I did to mix. The calcium was low and Alk was high. I lost a few LPS corals in that batch due to my actions of using it anyway. The blue bucket has been amazing and so far I will continue to use it. My advice is to test what brand your using to make sure it's stable. Like vinny said, instant ocean is consistent and that's key. As long as my testing for the salt I use stays consistent then I will continue to use it. Great article vinny

I actually laughed when I saw the carbonate reading lol.

But the aforementioned brands are great in other aspects. I would love to see a food or supplement for fish from aquavitro.
red sea has produced inconsistent results, as Vinny stated. Brightwell has products that are chemically inbalanced. Such as their kalk +2, liquid reef, and trace elements.

Thanks D.I didn't realise you had a bad batch of rscp. I thought I was the lucky one.lol
I agree I got so paranoid I started testing every new bucket of salt. Then I visited the IO facility and was blown away by there batch testing. It looked like a space laboratory and I stopped worrying.:)

Not all red sea has produced inconsistent results. I've been more than happy with red sea blue bucket. The problem lies with trying to max out the big 3 values without having them precipitate and a minor deviation will result in big inconsistencies. I also used aquavitro dosing products and they were beyond amazing in my tank. I switched to thrive due to getting 600 dollars worth mag, cal, alk, and potassium for 100 dollars that i couldn't pass up. I intend to go back to aqua vitro when I run out.

Seachem claimed elevated levels of borate increased calcium solubility. Which Randy doesn't beleive.
