3reef has confirmed that the first several batches of the highly anticipated 'salinity' salt mix, new from Seachem went out the LFS door as soon as they went in and completely sold out. This 3reefer has personally made several calls trying to track some down recently to no avail. Well, fellow Californians, this week is our chance as we were told that the latest batch is going to California this week. Start hitting the phones and let us know if you find it.

Seachem Salinity Salt Mix Sells Out!

salinity™ is a blend of salts specifically formulated for the reef aquarium that contains all essential major, minor, and trace components found in natural reef waters, but contains no toxic or non-essential components. Additionally, salinity™ is the most concentrated salt blend on the market. With a hydration level of <0.5% salinity™ will yield a greater volume of prepared saltwater at a salinity of 35‰ per unit of weight than any other salt mix currently on the market.

salinity™ is identical to the distribution of anions and cations found in Natural Sea Water (NSW). We have compiled data from all the oceans and seas on the Earth, and have targeted the midpoint of the range for each element. We guarantee to be within ± 3% of the midpoint. For example, at a salinity of 35‰, for calcium, magnesium, and strontium, we have the following targets and ranges.
    Calcium: target 422 mg/L, range 409 to 435 mg/L
    Magnesium: target 1336 mg/L, range 1296 to 1376 mg/L
    Strontium: target 8.4 mg/L, range 8.1 to 8.7 mg/L

Alkalinity and pH values vary widely over the Earth’s oceans. salinity™ will be within the following ranges:
    pH: 8.4 to 8.6
    Alkalinity: 3.2 to 3.8 meq/L

I've got a bucket and have yet to use it. Waiting for the reef crystals to wear out. I love the AquaVitro line from SeaChem

From Tropics in San Luis Obispo a few weeks ago. Andreas, the owner, came back from a show with a few buckets and gifted it to me.

lol Sounds like from what I was reading up, it seems that there is a distribution problem, and everything is getting redirected? Hence the hold up? Not 100% sure but was reading some ones site that said they contacted a Seachem Rep.

    Lucky you!

Interesting, I have not head that. The information I gave here was directly from Seachem and did not mention anything about that... perhaps they just didn't anticipate the demand.

Didn't know that this was such a hot item. The only reason why Andreas gifted it to me was to make up for some bad ro/di water that we bought from him. His unit wasn't working and luckily we tested for chlorine before we mixed the salt in. Saved him some hardship as we were the first water customers of the day and he had almost loaded a few jugs of it in his van before going out to a house call.

SLOCAL you lucky sob. I go into tropics all the time and never got anything like that. I am now going to go harass Andreas. j/k. He is a good guy, I stop in there anytime I am in SLO. What I like about him to is he will match catalog prices on stuff and order it for you without charging for shipping. He is a pretty cool hobbyist/lfs owner.

Yup, he's the best. Way better than that grump from Wet Pets. Hopefully Andreas will have some in since he really showcases the AquaVitro line in his shop.
