So, I have been using oceanic for a long time now, but I want to upgrade to something better for my reef. I can't decide between seachem reef salt, seachem salinity, and h2ocean. I saw that the Salinity has 0.0003 ppm Cu in it. This worries me, but if ll salts have Cu in it I am not worried anymore.

Out of those three which would you suggest. Best bang for the buck is also nice. out of those 3. Is seachem salinity really worth the extra $? Where can you buy salinity online?

that means there is one particle of copper in every 30 trillion particles of water... not that much at all.

If you dont feel safe doing getting it then dont, but I have a strong liking to brightwell salt, maybe consider checking it out?
Ive heard crystal sea marine mix is supposed to be high quality and surprisingly cheap... havent tried it yet but plan to sometime soonish

Copper is an element that is part of NSW (Natural Salt Water). It's only dangerous at the levels that are used in Copper medications.

That's right, and Copper is at the heart of some very complex enzyme processes, so a few Cu atoms in your tank is fine and probably absorbed and utilized by livestock.

I (my corals and fish) really like SeaChem Reef Salt, and I'd use Salinity if I could get my hands on some. I think it has a carbon source added so make sure your skimmer is up to par before you start using it.

I read that Salinity has different types of granuals in it. Wouldn't this cause some to settle making the consistency of elements different each time you make new water?

I had an issue w/ Cu getting in my tank about a year ago and have been scared of it every since. Since so many are saying it ias safe in small amounts I will go for it. I run a SWC xtreme 160 cone on my 75 gallon w/ 20g sump. I am sure this would be a good enough skimmer. I think I will try to get some Seachem Salinity.

I have used many different salts over the years (all with great success), i.e. Instant Ocean, Instant Ocean RC, Coral Life, and a few others that I have long forgotten about. I am currently using Ocean Pure Pro salt – working very well for me so far.

The Point I am trying to make is don’t get too hung up about the salt your using as long as it’s a good quality reef salt; worry about the basics, supplement the salts where they are deficient, i.e. Ca, Mg, etc… and you will likely find that they all will do the job just fine.

I guess you just spin it upside down a few times to mix everything up again.

Sounds like you have ample skimming!

    Yea, I love that skimmer.

I am using Oceanic and while I get it cheap I want to try a higher quality salt.
