Reply here...I have a couple of questions. I just dug an old one up and put it back together. I need my memory refreshed for tuning this thing. Also, I think I saw one in use without the intake sponge? Tim is that you?

I used to use mine in the sump , But I used it for 6 months as a hob. I stopped using the sponge on mine doesn't really make a difference. As far as tuning I would turn the air valve all the way in then turn in about half way out.

if you want to use it in sump just take of the j-tube and hook the maxi jet straight to the bottom.

Thanks horton. That is part of my problem, the air valve I am using, it's not the original. I have tried a few and am starting to second guess what I'm doing. Guess I'll let it do its thing for a day, or, so. It appears that I am getting the "bubbleage" that I want, but, larger bubbles seem to be forming somewhere and breaking into the party. I kinda remember it being a tad tough to tune these things at first. Thought maybe running it without the sponge was messing with me.

I had a seaclone sitting around and came across some info on upgrading it to perform better. I put it on my 20 gallon long and did a few of the mods.

After the mods I was shocked at how well it worked. I have a Tunze 9002 on my biocube and I can tell you that the Seaclone easily is outperforming my Tunze.
