Both my 150 and 100 do a bang up job with the stock pump. It will take about two weeks to break in. Hang in there!

the maxi jet 1200 that comes with the seaclone has an outlet that attaches to the skimmer by a screw that is attached to the jet already...if i got a bigger pump how would i attach it?

Wait at least two weeks before making any purchases. Remove the filter sponge, keep the venturi basket clean, and adjust to get a wet foam is all you need to do for the next two weeks for sure.

I use a SC on my 20g Nano. Works OK stock but kicks azz with a little mod or two. I used a dremel and cut down the inner tube in the collection cup a little, removed the sponge on the pump, drilled a hole in the top and added an airstone to it. It really works well now. Eventually I added a sump and now it hangs on the sump and works even better with no microbubble problems that sometimes occur with all HOB skimmers.

This may be a slightly off topic question, but in looking at this thread I have to ask, is the Prism skimmer really that loud? I just bought one, it is still in the box, and I have not fired it up yet. Should I return it and get a sea clone? (I have a 40 gallon tank)

APC you should start another thread for your prizm so this thread doesnt get to much off topic. And there are already threads on the prizm on 3reef, try this one prizm thread

I have the sea clone 150 and get about a 1/3 of a dixie cup a day.I changed the air valve to a better one this makes it easier to adjust. Keep it clean!!!!! I can the collection cup daily just a little hot water and sponge. Good luck.

Mash2K ? about your mods. Where is the airstone? Did you drill a hole in the cap for the collection cup so the stone is in the riser tube? What kind of air pump are you using. I seem to be producing more now that I have added LR to the tank, so may be interested in using your mods

Thanks to all for the responses.
