I bought this POS about 10 months ago and it worked fine until we had an ich outbreak and had to shut it off to treat the tank. After that it won't skim anything, it either overflows or it doesn't get enough flow to get the skimmate into the cup and it also doesn't cyclone in the bottom cup. I don't know what to do with it besides throw it in the trash and forget I ever had it. The LFS we go to has one on every show tank they have and they haven't had any problems with them, they also have no idea what is wrong with it. Can anyone help???

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you had it turned off for awhile ( a couple days or more ) it will need to break in again. Give it a couple of days.

And if you added anything to the tank in the way of ich remedies it will not skim for awhile either.

I should've mentioned that was MONTHS ago! We've had it running for a while, a couple months after the ich episode, and then it stopped doing anything useful at all so we shut it off. It's been off for atleast 6 months and now we have some delicate coral that needs pristine water so we wanted to get it going again..

Any skimmer that has been left off needs to break in again weather new or used.

If you are keeping corals that you want to have pristine water I would invest in another skimmer.

I know first hand, I had this skmmer a number of years ago and they are really not for keeping sps/acropora.

seaclone isn't so much a protein skimmer as a cool tornado simulator.

most people don't have luck with it.

if you dont have a lot of money, you could try to modify it by adding a bubble stone and an air pump into the main chamber. that might get you the kinda bubbles you need in order for it to start skimming again. I did this with a no name skimmer and it worked well for me..... just a thought.
