So i have about $250 left on christmas money and was think about a seahorse tank in a little 10g tank..

Here is my plan from LITTLE research and i already they are somewhat hard to keep alive..

    10g tank
Basic light probably like T5...or just a basic hood that comes with it.
    5lbs of LR
2 horses(heard they do better in groups..Not sure what type tho???)
    A good heater
powerhead?? not sure if they like flow or not.

    How does that sound?

im doing a build thread you could get a lot of info out of it.

in a 10 gallon the only type you could keep are Hippocampus zosterae. and they need live brine to eat. you could get a 25 or 30 like me and get Hippocampus reidi or Hippocampus erectus.

also dont use the heater. even with out a heater your tank might need a chiller.
i recomend you do A LOT more reading. i hope you get to set one up i would like to see yours

Yeah i saw your build thread! COngrats!

I just dont want another big tank to deal with honestly haha, i have a 14g biocube reef which is really alota fun..So i was gunna do a small 10g, but i dont want to have to deal with live brine.

    thanks.

also brine shrimp arnt that hard even the erectus and reidi will need a few every so often. all you need is a 2 liter bottel.
also in a 10 gallon you could keep about 5 or 6 zosterae. and they will start bredding

its kind of like keeping a mandarin except they want live brine instead. as for the seahorses dont get a heater; u might need a chiller because u dont want the temperature to go over 74 degrees or they're more prone to bacterial infections

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
One of the biggest things I got out of your thread (con999) is that those experienced with seahorses adviced a larger tank than 10 gallons. Heeding that advice seems wise to me.

i believe that in the case of seahorses a taller tank is better

My 14g stays at 75-76 with a heater and its in my room.

I was thinking since its the same room and about the same water quantity it would be around the same with a heater..But idk..Ill dome some experimenting with the tank before i get the seahorses before tho.
