Ok so I went to home depot and bought GE clear 100% silicone. Then as I'm about to cut the top I tell myself, I wonder how long before I can water test this puppy. So I check the back, it says at the end of the directions "not for use below water line or aquariums." What gives I thought as long as its 100% silicone it'd work. I'm really curious why this won't work. Attached is a pic.[IMG]

I believe they are required to post them there by their legal department. You will find similar warnings/disclaimers on a few brands of 100% silicone.
Just as long as there are no anti-microbial or anti-fungal additives - you should be good to go.

Hold on, isn't silicone 1 the one that's not safe for tanks? I always confuse that.

But if it's the right one, using it for baffles will be ok. It's a disclaimer about using it as actual structural support.

How long should I let it sit before I do a water test? 24hrs? 2 days?

Silicone II is the bad one. Silicone I is reef safe. I have used Silicone I on two sumps and one tank with no problems.

I waited 3 days before water testing it. The silicone still smelled a little like vinegar, but after the water test it didn't smell. I then waited 24 hours just as a little reassurance and plumbed it to my tank.
